It's a Grand Old Team To Paint For

Jim Scullion Has been working alongside Celtic Football Club as an artist for over 40 Years, but his allegiance to the Club goes back much further than that. His first official school photograph taken in the late 1950's shows him proudly wearing his hand knitted Celtic Jersey containing the names of his heroes.

Jim’s exhibitions have always featured some of his Celtic related artwork. For over 40 years he has worked alongside the club producing paintings, prints, posters etc. His work is displayed inside the stadium and also around the outside. He has worked on everything from Christmas cards, to jigsaws, from DVD covers to Book covers from T shirts to programme covers, from dinner menus to advertising design and layout. He produced a series of paintings for the three Greatest Ever Celts functions which were auctioned for charity raising a 5 figure sum for charity.

The Jock Stein Murals

As the Jock Stein Stand was a few months from completion Jim was asked to produce 2 murals of Jock Stein in the concourse. He literally worked in what was a building site and produced the murals in situ. He decided to paint them on wood and the building contractors assembled the structure for him. After a few weeks working in really cold conditions, as the stand did not have doors or windows at this point. Jim completed the murals. He returned a few weeks later to paint the quotations directly onto the wall underneath the murals. On one occasion the murals were damaged by rival fans who were using the stadium for a cup tie and the damage was quickly repaired by Jim.

The Legends Banners

Jim has designed a couple of Dvd covers that have resulted in his images being used in advertising Banners outside the stadium including the History Dvd. This led to Jim being asked to get involved with the Legends Banner. Jim’s hand drawn images were reproduced over 35 foot high on the Banners that depicted the Club legends.
